Abstract: According to the ACA Code of Ethics (2014), gatekeeping is a responsibility of counselors; however, counselors report reluctance to practice gatekeeping. This is critical because gatekeeping protects the integrity of the profession and the treatment provided to clients. This session will highlight the need for gatekeeping and explore the barriers to gatekeeping. In addition, the presenters will provide information about procedures, processes, and best practices of gatekeeping and remediation. NBCC - 1 contact hour; NAADAC 1 contact hour (pending)
