“Developing Leaders for the Counseling Profession: Meeting the 2016 CACREP Standards”

Abstract: The 2016 CACREP Standards require that counselor education programs prepare students to take leadership roles in a variety of counseling and counselor education settings. The presenter will overview accreditation standards and research regarding leadership development among professional counselors before discussing practical considerations for cultivating a culture of leadership within counselor education programs. The presentation will include examples of formal and informal activities designed to facilitate leadership growth and meet student learning outcomes regarding leadership.
